Haibo Ma's main research interests focus on the development of new quantum chemical methods for strongly correlated systems and theoretical investigation of excited state processes in optoelectronic materials.

Prof. Haibo Ma

Yihe received his B.S. from Nanjing University and now a Ph.D. student there investigated by Chungen Liu and Haibo Ma. He works on quantum dynamic methods of large-scale chemical systems, mainly with TD-DMRG. 

Mr. Yihe Xu

Yifan graduated with BSc in Chemistry (2019) from Nanjing University, China. Currently, his research focused on developing multi-reference methods for studying the properties of transition metal complexes.

Mr. Yifan Cheng

Yuli received the B.E. degree in materials science from East China University of Science and Technology in 2020, and then joined the Ma's group as a M.Sc. student in September.  From 2022.9, he becomes a new member of Ph.D. students in the Ma's group. His research interest focuses on the nonadiabatic molecular dynamical simulation of ultrafast photophysical and photochemical processes in low-dimensional materials.

Mr. Yuli Lei

Cheng Peng received her M.S. degree in physical chemistry in Soochow University and then joined the Ma's group as Ph.D. candidate in September 2023. Her research interest focuses on the computational studies of metal complexes through multiple reference methods.

Ms. Cheng Peng

Yongjie graduated from Changzhou University in 2020 with BSc in materials science. In 2024, he received a MSc in physical chemistry from Nanjing University. Now he is a Ph.D. student in Ma's group, focusing on developing software for periodic electronic structure calculations.

Mr. Yongjie Jiang

Xinyu graduated with BSc in Chemistry (2024) from Nankai University, and then joined the Ma's group in the same year. His interests lie in the development of novel multireference quantum many-body problem-solving approaches and their application to strongly correlated systems and dynamics.

Mr. Xinyu Sun

Wei Huang received his BSc in Polymer Materials Science and Engineering from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2022. However, he is interested in theoretical and computational chemistry since his sophomore year. Currently, he is working on Multi-reference Configuration Interaction Methods.

Ting Bao completed her studies in Applied Chemistry at Linyi University in 2022.Her research interests lie in the field of computational modeling of photoelectronic or photocatalytic materials.In her leisure time, she enjoys an active lifestyle and is particularly fond of skateboarding.

Peng Zhou graduated from Nanchang Hangkong University in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in Applied Chemistry. His research focuses on the theoretical study of metal enzyme catalyzed reaction mechanisms.

Jiaao Su obtained a B.S. in Applied Chemistry and a B.E. (minor) in Computer Science and Technology from Shandong University in 2024. Currently, he has been studying theories related to electronic structure in order to find a suitable research direction.

Mr. Jiaao Su

Xiangfeng Jiang received her B.E. in Material Chemistry from Xiangtan University in 2024. Her research focus is on non-adiabatic dynamic simulation. She enjoys reading, singing, traveling with friends in her spare time, and does not skilled at any sport at all.

Ms. Xiangfeng Jiang

Tao Zhou graduated from Northeast Forestry University with a bachelor's degree in forestry engineering in 2024. His research focuses on the theoretical study. He likes to plant trees and always implements the concept that clear waters and green mountains are invaluable assets.

Mr. Tao Zhou

Xiaoyu Xie focuses on modelling the electronic and vibrational structures of molecular aggregates, such as organic semiconductor systems. He is also interested in the theoretical study of excitonic processes (spectrum, dynamics, etc.) in optoelectronic materials.

Qian Wang received her M.S. degree in applied psychology in Qingdao University and joined the Ma group in September 2023 as a Administrative Coordinator, assisting the Ma group to complete various administrative work.

Ms. Qian Wang

Zhi-Wen Zhao is an associate professor at Hubei University of Art and Science. She is a visiting academic in Ma’s group at Shandong University. She received her Ph.D. from Northeast Normal University in 2021. She joined as a visiting Ph.D. student in the group of Alessandro Troisi at University of Liverpool supported by the China Scholarship Council scholarship (2019–2020). Currently, her research interest lies in material discovery by data-driven methods for optoelectronic materials, targeting their structural and physical properties.

Dr. Zhiwen Zhao

Yaping Wen received her Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry at Nanjing University in 2021 under the supervisor of Prof. Haibo Ma. She is now a lecturer at Henan Normal University and joined Ma's group as a visiting scholar in August 2024. Her research focuses on the design of photoactive materials and the theoretical optimization of device parameters for non-fullerene organic solar cells assisted by machine learning.

Dr. Yaping Wen

Yinxuan Song received his B.S. (2017) and Ph.D. (2023) in Chemistry from Nanjing University. He is working on the development and maintenance of Kylin, an ab-initio quantum chemistry software developed by Ma's group.

Dr. Yinxuan Song

Zhangxia obtained her B.E. in applied chemistry from North China Electric Power University (2018) and completed her PhD in chemistry from Nanjing University (2024). Currently, she is a Postdoc in Prof. Ma's group, focusing on the photochemical processes and material design.

Dr. Zhangxia Wang

Guoyan Ge received her B.S. in physics from Shandong Normal University (2017) and Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Nanjing University of Science and Technology (2024). Currently, she is a Postdoc in Prof. Ma’s group, working on the time-resolved X-ray spectral simulations.
